Our vision for Shotover Wetland
Queenstown is surrounded by beautiful mountains, lakes, rivers, and forests. Long ago, before people lived here, there were lots more wetlands - special places where water and land meet. One of these special places was the Shotover Wetland, where two rivers come together, the Kimi Ākau (Shotover) and Kawarau Rivers.
Our Big Dream:
We want to bring this wetland back to life! We want it to be full of plants and animals again, and a cool place where kids from Shotover Primary School can learn about nature.
This project will help everyone in our community learn why wetlands are so important. Wetlands are like nature's water filters - they clean our water and provide homes and food for lots of different animals and plants.
When we all work together to take care of nature, amazing things can happen!
